On 30/11, the Vietnamese Prime Minister has issued Decree No. 108/2011/ND-CP on amendment of some articles of Decree No. 69/2010/ND-Cp dated 21/6/2010 of the Government regulating biosafety of genetically modified organisms, genetic specimens and GMO’s products.
Accordingly, to amend Articles 28 and Clause 2 of Article 29 and Clause 2 of Article 30 and Article 31 of Decree No. 69. Specifically, amendments of the Article 28 , the provisions within 180 days from the date of receipt of valid dossiers, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held Council of GM food safety for assessment of application for certificate of genetically modified organisms are eligible for food use.
In case of genetically modified organisms subject to the provisions of Clause 2 of Article 27 of Decree 69, the time to consider granting, or refusing to issue certificates of genetically modified organisms are eligible for food use maximum is 60 days.
This Decree takes effect from the date of 15/1/2012. Certificate of genetically modified organisms for food eligibility has been issued before the effective date of this Decree shall remain valid until the legal time validity stated in the certificate. /.
